The Diary Of Anne Frank

(April 2015)

The story of Anne Frank is well known to many. This was an accurate production reenacting life in the small annex during World War Two. Displaying the real dangers that were present during this time in Amsterdam right up to the final days of the war.

This production was relatively simple from a lighting point of view however was simple to create an atmosphere that was appropriate throughout. The final moments were lead by slow motion and complimented by both lighting and sound effects, which created the true horror of what was happening before the audience. The tricky part of this show was showing the tensions that can be created between a group of people when they are forced together like these two families were. Finally, the show closed with the sole survivor of the story speaking of the famous Diary and how they would not let their story be forgotten, this was lit with a single spot light, highlighting the fact that this character was now breaking the fourth wall.
